Sandoz's Generic Ozempic Is Approved but Still Not on Pharmacy Shelves

Sandoz has a Health Canada approval for generic Ozempic but no pharmacy price yet. Until it ships, only Apotex and Dr. Reddy's generics can be compared.

Published · Editorial team

Approved is not the same as available

Sandoz's generic Ozempic received a Health Canada Notice of Compliance dated September 16, 2026. Both of its drug identification numbers, 02571501 and 02571528, were still listed as Approved, not Marketed on Health Canada's Drug Product Database as of September 29.

In practice: you cannot buy it yet, and no pharmacy or program can honestly quote you a price for it.

What this does to a comparison

Comparing generic programs today means comparing products that are on the market: the Apotex and Dr. Reddy's generics. We are not adding a Sandoz column until there is a real, dated price to put in it. When a third manufacturer ships, the competition could move prices, but that is a forecast, not a fact, and we will not print one.

How we will handle it

We will update this article and our provider comparisons when the Drug Product Database shows the Sandoz status change and a program lists a verifiable price. Until then, treat any "Sandoz generic available now" claim as unverified.

Not a pharmacy
